I have watched countless videos about how to write, how to discover your unique writing style, and how to complete the first book. I have also written and conceptualized thousands of stories, yet I've never actually transformed them into a book.
Today, I watched a TEDx video about writing a book over a weekend. While it might not be a fully polished book ready for print, but a significant portion of the draft can be completed if you follow the suggested approach. The most valuable aspect of the talk is the philosophy that "you just need to start," and that success is achievable by adhering to a guided process. It is so easy dreaming of doing it, the hard part is to get started and follow some kind of routine.
I'm not saying that I am in the process of writing a book; this blog focuses on worldbuilding. I am, however, contemplating the possibility of attempting to write a book. It may not necessarily take the form of a novel or a conventional book; it could be an RPG or another type of creation. But one thin is true, there are many stories in my head that could... that could become a book.
So, for the sake of argument, let's indulge in a bit of dreaming. What kinds of stories could I transform into books?
a fantasy novel set in my fabled world, where an unlikely small group of heroes embarks on an epic yet small journey.
a science fiction tale following a young woman's escape from her secluded cult on Earth, where she ends upon a spaceship that carries her away from everything she's ever known.
a short horror story delving into the eerie occurrences within my quiet town.
a creepy story of a 1920s investigator unraveling mysteries around Vadstena, located by Lake Vättern here in Sweden.
These are the stories that have been occupying my recent thoughts. The act of merely writing about them here on this blog that no one reads feels scary. The mere contemplation of turning these concepts into reality feels monumental. Right now all my unwritten books can only be fund in Morpheus library (from Neil Gaiman's Sandman). And the only people that can share in my stories are my family and my RPG-group.
